Royal Capital Seafood Restaurant--> Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian Anyone?

After another fruitless house hunting search, I decided to take my parents out to lunch at the Royal Capital Seafood Restaurant in Garden Grove. It is a mesh between Vietnamese, Chinese and Cambodian style of food.

This is our typical lunch menu.  It can't be beat.  You get a soup and the che which is the tapioca mung bean dessert, it was a bargain.

85. Hot and Sour Fish

101. Beef Chow Fun (PanFry)

When we order, we always get the Hot and Sour Fish. I think it's a misnomer because it's neither Hot or Sour. We put the sauces on the side to preserve the crunchy batter of the whole fish. The fish is thin and the batter was light and airy but not too oily. Think of it like the British Fish and Chips. It came out very quickly and steamy hot. The sauces can be spooned on to taste and eaten with rice.

Second course is the Beef Chow Fun (Pan Fry). I haven't had it this way since I was in SF. It was perfect. The smokiness and the dry flavor is not something that you can be duplicated at home. I guess it's because you need that temperature, a large surface area of a wok and oil and expertise that I have yet to master. I doubt the beef is of high quality but I think they must use cornstarch and flour to help tenderize it because it was better than many of those fancier and more upscale places that I've been to over the past few weeks.

Since tomorrow is no meat Friday, I decided to get order Sweet and Sour Shrimp to go.

57. Sweet and Sour Shrimp

The ubiquitous or ever present red sauce makes its presence known here in the sweet and sour shrimp.  I was disappoint this time around because not as many shrimp.  Maybe it's because it's a weekday?  I guess I can't be picky because after all it's a lunch special.
